Christine Tavares MOcha

Singer | Songwriter | Composer | Arranger

Christine Tavares-Mocha is an LA area based studio singer, performer, songwriter, composer, and arranger who has a huge heart for music education. She serves as the choral director at Valencia High School in Valencia, California and has for the last 20 years. She directs 175 students in 6 internationally touring choirs including two vocal jazz ensembles. Under her direction the Valencia Vocal Jazz Ensemble, “2 n 4” has received a total of 12 DownBeat Awards, including the 2021 Winner of "Top High School Vocal Jazz Ensemble." For multiple years, Valencia H.S. Vocal Jazz Ensemble has been selected as one of two high school ensembles in the nation to perform at The Monterey Jazz Festival and JEN (Jazz Education Network) Conference. In 2019, Two N' Four Opened at the Hollywood Bowl and 2020 they were featured performers opening for New York Voices at the Western American Choral Directors Association Conference. This year they will perform in February at the 2023 National American Choral Director’s Association.

Christine is currently working towards her Master of Arts in Songwriting from Berklee School of Music while also serving as the Contemporary Worship Leader for Valencia United Methodist Church.  She has two boys, Jackson and Cole, three labradoodles and a supportive husband and business partner, Scott.
